Magic Inventors In writing articles for The Wizards' Journal, I try to credit magic inventors when they are known. I have noticed that Harold Rice was very good about listing inventors of silk magic and silk gimmicks, but there is no searchable index available of his Silk Magic Encyclopediae, so I have decided to try to provide one. When this work is complete I will make it available, upon request, as an Excel file so that other magic authors can use it for research. I would appreciate being notified of any errors or ommissions. Please note that this is not the same as the index produced by Silk King Studios for the Rice Encyclopediae, volumes 1 to 3. That index is more complete, being a standard index in alphabetical order of the types of effects it contains. My inventor's index below omits a great deal of information from the encyclopediae simply because it does not have an inventor connected to it. |
Silk Magic Inventors- All are from Rice's Encyclopedia of Silks, Volume 1 - www.silkkingmagic.com

| * This is probably the precursor of all of the color changing bags from Spotty to the latest costume bag props. | ||
| ** Rice lists the creator as unknown. The Inventor of the self-contained version was probably Lewis Davenport. | ||
| *** The routine is listed as the creation of Carl Lyle (perhaps Carlyle?). The False Finger was invented by Charles Morritt. | ||
| **** Many of the above tricks are based on principles of concealment established by the original Organ Pipes, created by Antonio Molini (of Austria.!). | ||
